A simple hello can lead to a million things !
You know those couples that no one would bet a cent on?
So many differences, things that don't seem to add up at first rational glance, and an environment that does everything in its power to keep two people apart. Such a couple were we, Valerie and Simon . (Actually I call him Eli according to his middle name)
To clarify the feeling of our story, Shania Twain's song keeps coming to mind, a beauty of a song titled 'Still the one'. Put it on, you know it for sure ! At the beginning, the singer quotes the following text which seemed to be written for us, and I'll tell you why right away.
Looks like we made it
Look how far we've come, my baby
We mighta took the long way
We knew we'd get there someday
They said, "I bet they'll never make it"
But just look at us holding on
We're still together, still going strong
Simon and I met in late 1998: he was of Jewish Indian origin, and I was a purebred Belgian with a French-speaking mother and a Flemish father. I had just returned from two years of studying in America and was ready to meet someone at 23.
There you had him, a handsome mysterious man with an ocean separating us culturally & religiously, and in a spark my sights were set on him.
Not the easiest choice, as it turned out.
And yet !
For four years we did all that was necessary for us to be together, with finally an Orthodox conversion in Flatbush, New York as the icing on the cake in December 2002.
At that point, no one could stop us. We got married in 2003 and that same year welcomed the first of our three sons into our little family. What a joy !
This is, in very broad terms, a story that has had a lot of twists and turns that could be chapters from an exciting book, and which we hope to share with you someday.
Following my intuition has ensured that I got what I wanted: meeting Simon (Eli ) really meant the beginning of a great adventure.
This year, this adventure got a beautiful new chapter with the creation of "The house of Moringa " where we want to help moringa conscious women to excel in life by increasing their life vitality and thus igniting their inner fire.
Here's to your good health !!!
